I started out this year with a series of blog posts about my journey with a capsule wardrobe.
I went through my strategies for getting started and outlined how I got to a place of having very few clothing items. I later shared every single thing in my closet, and insights about what holes I’m still trying to fill and some brands I like to support.
My process of editing my wardrobe continues and I’ve made some good progress with new additions this year. I tried to shop with sustainability and versatility in mind, but had a few big brand store purchases as well.
Crepe V-Neck Shell from Jenni Kayne
Retails for $150
I bought this to replace a similar top I had (and loved) for years from JCrew. Unfortunately this top ended up being a little too large for me to want to grab it day after day. I can and will mend it to fit just right, but it does not get enough use as is.
The Texture Cotton Cardigan from Everlane
Retails for $98
An Everlane sweater has been on my list for YEARS. I finally purchased this one and love it so much! The material is a cotton / nylon blend, which means it won’t be as quick to pill or stretch with wear. I wear it more than once a week and love the fit and weight of it.
The Organic Cotton Turtleneck from Everlane
Retails for $28
This turtleneck fits me a little more snug than most of my other cotton tops, but it’s very flattering and perfect for layering. I got the rosewood color and really like that it’s a color but still leans a little neutral and earthy. It’s not an everyday item for the climate here in Houston, but it’ll get a lot of wear on some cold weather trips we have planned soon.
High-rise Cameron pant in four-season stretch from JCrew
Retails for $89.50
I really didn’t know that dress pants could be a thing I love until getting these. Petite and professional looking clothing can be tough to find, but I got these in a 00P and they fit me perfectly (no tailoring is HUGE for me!). I wore these surprisingly a lot considering I work remotely, but these are truly almost as comfortable as sweat pants.
Shift & Snap Tank from Wayre
Retails for $59
I love this top so much that I bought three of them. I got them In Used Black, Clay and Fern and wear them on steady rotation. The fabric is almost activewear but can pass as dressier clothing and the cut is versatile as well. I wear this top with jeans, leggings, and even dress pants depending on what look I’m going for.
Button Up Crop from Wayre
Retails for $79
I love the Wayre tanks so much that I also bought the button up crop they day it came out. I reach for it less frequently than the tanks, but that’s honestly because I only have one of these. The fabric is so comfy and breathable, and I love the trendy tie front!
Flow Short from Wayre
Retails for $69
Again, I love the tanks so much that I wanted to try the shorts as well. They are super comfy and perfect for super hot weather. My only complaint about these is that I have a hard time pairing them with anything other than Wayre tops.
Wrap-tie tank top from Madewell
Retails for $45
I purchased this top to replace one that was a year old and looking a little worse for wear and I really should have learned my lesson because this one has also not worn well at all. I love the fit and style, but this piece was not designed for the long haul.
Whisper Cotton Rib Crewneck Tee from Madewell
Retails for $19.50
I added a t-shirt on to my order with the wrap tank and I’m pretty happy with this purchase. It’s nothing exceptional, but I love the Distant Olive color.
Arizona Essentials Eva from Birkenstock
Retails for $44.95
I love these shoes so much that I bought a pair for my Dad for Fathers Day and he loves them just as much as I do. They are everything you already love about Birkenstocks, but waterproof!
Women's Wool Runner Mizzles from Allbirds
Retails for $115
Allbirds was another brand that has been on my radar for years before actually making a purchase. These shoes are all that they were hyped up to be—so comfy (I wear them around the house like slippers), lightweight, stylish, and sustainably made. I got the Cardamom color and love the light green to pair with just about everything in my mostly neutral wardrobe.
